Water-Spirits

The allure of water-spirits has transcended time, captivating the imagination and folklore of ancient societies. Across diverse cultures, these ethereal entities have been revered as "Mermaids" and enigmatic beings with mystical connections to water. Even today, indigenous communities worldwide maintain a deep-rooted engagement with these enchanting water-spirits.
Within my own Andean heritage, the profound belief in the Yakuruna endures—an embodiment of water and humanity intertwined. Dwelling within the flowing rivers of the Amazon, and Andean rivers/lakes, these water beings hold a revered place in our ancestral lore. Notably, references to water-spirits and water beings abound in various cultural contexts, encompassing the rich tapestries of Peruvian, Mesoamerican, African, Greek, and Japanese traditions.
The enigmatic allure of water-spirits continues to pique my interest, prompting an earnest recommendation for exploration. Delving into the stories, myths, and cultural depictions of these magical beings promises a captivating journey through the archives of human fascination with the mystical realms of water.

My story with the water spirits ..

My awareness of the water-spirits developed when I began dating Sam in 2008. Before he entered my life, I had encountered water-like phenomena, but I had paid little attention to them. In my blog story, "The Spiritual Life Chose Me," I recount how I used to deny my spiritual gifts while growing up. However, everything changed when I started feeling comfortable sharing my experiences beyond this realm with Sam. He not only supported me in discussing spiritual matters but also encouraged me to freely express myself, which had a profound impact on my life. One particular night, as we were watching a movie in the darkness, I observed liquid movements all around us, as if the room was moving in waves. Eventually, the liquid motions ceased and transformed into two water-beings circling around me. I inquired if Sam noticed anything unusual in the dark, but since he couldn't see anything, I chose to remain silent, choosing to fully embrace the present with him.

On several occasions, the water entities made their presence known to me, but I chose to disregard it. However, one night, I finally brought it up to Sam and inquired about it because I noticed that the water beings seemed to be more active than ever. It dawned on me that their manifestations had significantly increased since I met Sam. As we were getting ready to sleep, I vividly recall the water spirits hovering above us.

I said, “Hey, I think I see water-like beings, they are just hovering above us, & I have seen them here before. Do you know what these are? Because I think they are inter-dimensional beings, they don’t look like ghosts to me.”

He replies, “ I am not sure what you’re seeing, but I do know that in Africa, some traditional healers work with fresh water-spirits, maybe that’s what you are seeing?”

As I reflected on his words, I felt a deep-seated intuition that my ancestors too, engaged with the water-spirits. However, at that point, I had not immersed myself in such matters nor aligned my focus in that direction. My spiritual journey was only beginning to unfold, and I had yet to explore the wisdom embedded within my ancestral customs.

I replied, “I’m not sure what they are, or where they come from, because they haven’t spoke to me.. yet. What I do know is that they agree with being referred to as water-spirits.”

Sam then recalled, “Oh yeaaaaa!! My last name means ‘Water’ in Shona!” (His Bantu language)

At that point, I was very intrigued, were these water-spirits African?

After a few days had passed, I found myself in an Astral encounter with the water-spirits. In this extraordinary meeting, they imparted valuable insights to me. Here's what I learned from their wisdom. Water-spirits, akin to inter-dimensional entities, possess the ability to metamorphose. They manifest in various water bodies worldwide, such as rivers, lakes, and other sources of water. However, they are distinct from the Sea-Water-Spirits; the sea spirits tend to exude more playful and mischievous traits compared to their river counterparts. These water-spirits are known to collaborate with medicine-(wo)men, shamans, and selected traditional healers across the globe. Additionally, they dwell in the rivers of the Amazon, where they have established connections with my ancestors. It's truly awe-inspiring to realize their timeless existence and extensive interactions with diverse traditional healers.

It’s possible not everyone relates to or accepts indigenous beliefs.. As someone from South America, where these beliefs were prevalent during my upbringing, it was relatively simple for me to grasp this information. It's important to maintain a skeptical mindset and question things that may not align with your existing knowledge and beliefs.

At first I was oblivious to the source of my water-spirits' assignment to me. However, after numerous encounters over the years, I have finally pieced together the puzzle. In this blog post, I will delve deeper into this revelation.

Has anyone seen my water-spirits? Affirmative...

A few years back, I think 2017, I went to Goat Mountain (Crowsnest Pass) with one my close friends Meg. We decided to set up a spot beside the river to do some energy work. I lay on a yoga mat on the ground, my feet are in the direction of the river and above me are tall trees and an open sky, clear beautiful day, we begin the energy session. Meg’s back is facing the river, and about 5 minutes in, I talk to my water-spirits, (telepathically) I ask them for a sign to let me know they are there with me, I ask if the river is safe for us to drink. Within seconds of my question, I feel a single drop of water at the tip of my nose, and in that same moment, Meg gasps, I see her startled, staring at me intensely. I ask her if she’s ok, she says that she felt a strong nudge at her feet and she felt an intense presence behind her, she thought it was a bear. I assure her that there is no bear present with us. Meg is no stranger to the open wild, she offers outdoor tour guides and hikes in the mountains. (Currently, she is a resident of Jasper National Park) She has lots of experience with wild animals.

I let her know that it was the water-spirits from the river. I explained that I had asked the water-spirits to give me a sign, and sure enough , they did! Meg is very sensitive to spirit, and the water-spirits trust her, they touched her to reassure her we are safe and well protected while in the forest. She took in the experience like a trooper!

The photo for this blog, was taken that very day! My friend’s feet were fairly close to the river.

2018- Another event :

I had invited a friend over to my home, she is also sensitive to spirit, however, she doesn’t really practice her gifts.

She had seen me walking across the room, and blurted out, “There’s something walking right behind you! It just warned me not to mess with you! WTF!?”

I ask her what the entity looked like, she tried to describe it, as a “Walking liquid-being without legs, like a genie.” I introduced her to my water-spirits, who are around to protect me. I laugh out loud, and ask her if I need to be worried about her being disloyal to me, otherwise, why else would my water-spirits warn her to keep her distance from me? lol It was good jokes 😂

My friend, who is from Trinidad, very gifted, might be the only person I know, to have actually seen and heard my water-spirits, with her own two eyes, and to describe them perfectly. .

The water-spirits are not intense all the time; in fact, they assist me in cleansing and purifying my space and shielding it from negative energies and ill-intentioned individuals. In the beginning, I attempted to rid myself of their presence when I was struggling to accept my life's calling. However, we now collaborate harmoniously, bonded by the shared objectives of love, empathy, and protection.

I was chatting with my friend, the traditional African healer, and during our discussion, he observed that I collaborate with the "Mermaids" and shed light on the disparity between the portrayal of the mythical creatures in the Western world and their perception by those attuned to water-spirits. He called them, “mermaids”, It was emphasized that I should honor the mermaid spirits as our ancestors did. He also highlighted the dual nature of water-spirits, cautioning me about their "dark" aspect. From him, I learned valuable insights on how to show reverence to water-spirits and acknowledge their vital role in the world.

About a couple of weeks after our talk, he randomly called me, to ask if I could remote- view where he is. I tune into him, and I can see a vision, he’s by a river, a sacred river, where I can see the mermaids, so, I describe the color of the mermaids, I describe the area, the river and he confirms with me, that I am allowed to cross the gateway to their sacred waters. When I visit Africa, he will take me to these sacred waters in the mountains. He also mentioned that I have African ancestors, and that’s why perhaps, the water-spirits were activated when I connected with Sam, as his lineage and ancestors are traditional healers that work with the mermaids. He was right, that I do have African ancestors. My father’s grandmother on his paternal side is African. We are in the process of trying to learn more about that side of our blood lines.

"I'd also like to share a humorous incident involving my water-spirits. Once, I was at my cousin's friend's apartment, watching TV. I'm not the type to just sit and relax while watching shows - I'm usually very active, always in flight mode. Feeling restless, I mentioned it to my cousin. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt water sprayed on my face! It was like someone had a water bottle and sprayed me… I yell, “WTF! I just got sprayed with water!”

My cousin turns to look at me wet fact and is shocked! We were the only ones there, how does water just manifest out of thin air? I had to wipe my face with a towel, but before I did, I told my cousin to touch my wet face lol The water-spirits have quite a funny sense of humor! 😂"
